Direct air connectivity between Nepal, UK emphasized

KATHMANDU: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) Suraj Vaidya and Andrew James Sparkes, ambassador of the United Kingdom to Nepal have stressed the need to establish direct air connectivity between Nepal and the United Kingdom to expand economic activities between the two countries.



According to a press release issued by FNCCI on Tuesday, Vaidya and Sparkes held discussions on wide range of issues like exchanging business delegation, developing investment climate in Nepal and identifying the areas of investment in a joint effort during a meeting held here on Tuesday. [break]



´Investment from the UK in different areas such as infrastructure development and mining industries would be important for the economic development of Nepal,´ the statement qyuoted as Vaidya saying in the meeting. ´The development aid from the United Kingdom should be focused on creating jobs in the domestic market.´



According to the statement, Sparkes said economic development in Nepal would take shape after promulgation of a new constitution through the Constituent Assembly, as per the release. ´Political stability is a must for economic activities to take place in the country. I will try my best to bring British investors in Nepal with fresh direct investment in different sectors,´ Sparkes said.
