JAJARKOT, May 3: Absence of effective telecommunications services in majority of polling stations at three municipalities and four village councils of the district is creating problems.

The polling stations are located at remote areas which are unable to access the telecommunications services. Of the total of 77 polling stations, 40 locations are without communications, locals complain.

The range of Nepal Telecommunication tower is effective only at high altitude areas and does not work in deeper locations and ravines, according to employees mobilized for the forthcoming local polls slated for May 14.

Tilak Rawal, chief candidate for CPN (Maoist Centre) in Barkot Village Council, says that although telephone service remains mandatory for security and quick exchange of information, the polling stations and village councils located at far-flung areas are facing problems. RSS
