Diplo gearing up for Tuborg Open Fest in Kathmandu

Diplo gearing up for Tuborg Open Fest in Kathmandu

‘Tuborg Open Fest 2018’ is all set to take place in Kathmandu on November 17. According to a press statement released by Tuborg, Nepali artists Laure and Bipul Chettri are set to join international artists Diplo and MØ to bring out a one-of-a-kind collaborative concert.

The concert also features artists— Neetesh Jung Kunwar, Rohit Shakya and Trishala Gurung —creating a musical scenario without boundaries, as per the press statement.  The event transcends borders to explore new ideas of creativity. According to the press statement ‘Stay Open’ is a song about opening yourself to new experiences. The project began in March when Bipul and Laure fly to Copenhagen to meet with Danish star MØ.  There, they shared their open approaches to making music and put a unique spin on the final Nepali version of the song.

‘The Tuborg Stay Open’ global track was released on May 11, followed by Nepali lyric video released in June 2018. The ‘Tuborg Open’   music video pairing global artists Diplo and MØ along with Nepali Rapper Laure and Bipul Chettri was released in September. The track was initially recorded by American producer and DJ Diplo and Danish rising star and singer/songwriter MØ exclusively for Tuborg OPEN. Together they created the track, ‘Stay Open.’ For the local Nepali version of the collaborations, Laure and Bipul rewrote the verses in Nepali to narrate of what being ‘Open to More’ means to them. After several months of exchanging ideas, Tuborg Open music video was released in September which has already garnered 8.2 million views as per a press statement.

It further quoted Diplo about the collaboration saying, “I have been working with MO for so many years. She’s one of my favorite artists of all time. It’s easy to write with her and the song happened very quickly. We are all excited to work together and these guys are able to do something they wouldn’t do otherwise. Working with an artist like me from America might be difficult otherwise. I learned a lot about Nepali music when I heard this! I love it!”
