Dilip Khatri sets new army record

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Dilip Khatri of Mid-western Headquarters won the men´s triple jump on Wednesday setting a new army record in the Chief of Army Staff Trophy held at Army Sports and Physical Training Center, Lagankhel. Khatri jumped 14.15 meters to finish ahead of Dinesh Chaudhary and Bhabindra Giri who secured second and third positions.



Mahabir Bhujel of Special Force won men´s 400 m gold clocking 58.59 seconds. Dil Bahadur Khadka and Bishesh Mahato won bronze and silver medals respectively. [break]



Rupa Khadka of Central Division Headquarters secured first position in women´s 1,500 m race with a timing of 5 minutes 34.51 seconds. Shanta Basaula of the same team finished second and Sujata Pradhan finished third.



Santa Bahadur Budha of Special Force took the men´s 800 m gold clocking 1 minute 59.86 seconds while Motilal Chaudhary and Nagendra Puri secured silver and bronze medals. Min Bahadur Chaudhary of Valley Division Headquarters won gold in men´s 200 m with a timing of 22.80 seconds. Himal KC and Dasiram Chaudhary finished second and third.



Bam Bahadur Gurung of Western Headquarters won the men´s shot put hauling 12.89 meters. Padam Bhandari and Dhirendra Jung Shah finished second and third respectively.



Innovative wins title



KATHMANDU
: Innovative School won the title of First Valley View Inter-school Boys´ Basketball Tournament in the capital on Wednesday. Innovative defeated Rara Hill School 50-39 with 17 points from Sudip Shrestha, who was later adjudged the most valuable player. Himal Tamang contributed 22 points for Rara Hill but could not avert the defeat. Altogether 19 teams had competed in the event.
