Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Man Bir Chhantyal, president of the club, informed that 12 teams have confirmed their participation in the competition that carries the highest prize amount for any volleyball tournament in the country.Chhantyal also informed that the club has invited a team from Uttar Pradesh of India to take part in the league.
"We have invited the team from India's Uttar Pradesh as part of our plan to get the best new domestic and international clubs. The Indian club has shown interest but hasn't yet confirmed its participation," he said.
Defending champion APF Club, runner-up of the last edition New Diamond Academy, Nepal Police Club, Western Region Volleyball Association Pokhara, Tribhuvan Army Club, Chandeshwari Youth Club, host Dhorpatan, Nepal Chhantyal Association, Nepal Artists Team Kathmandu, Angel's Heart HSS, Bindabashini High School, Tokha and Hotel Entrepreneurs' Team have confirmed their participation for the even that will be played under round-robin format.
The winner and runner-up will bag Rs 260,000 and Rs 130,000, respectively, while third and fourth teams will receive a purse of Rs 70,000 and Rs 40,000, respectively. Likewise, the teams that will finish fifth, sixth and seventh will get Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively.
Best player, player of the year, talented player, player of the series will each get a scooter.
Similarly, the best spike, blocker, defender, lifter, libero, server, coach and manager will be awarded Rs 5,000 each.
"Errors occur while holding tournaments, but if the club applies corrective measures, the tournament will run for long," said Dan Bahadur Tamang, president of Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA).
