Dhital, Aryal in the fray for  Gandaki Province Assembly Speaker

GANDAKI, Jan 14: Krishna Dhital of CPN (Maoist Centre) and Saraswati Aryal of Nepali Congress (NC) have fielded their candidacies for the post of Speaker of Gandaki Province Assembly.

GANDAKI, Jan 14: Krishna Dhital of CPN (Maoist Centre) and Saraswati Aryal of Nepali Congress (NC) have fielded their candidacies for the post of Speaker of Gandaki Province Assembly. 


Dhital was proposed by Phanindra Devkota and supported by Roshan Bahadur Gahathapa on behalf of the ruling alliance. Similarly, Aryal is proposed by Dilliram Subedi and supported by Takraj Gurung, according to information officer at the Province Assembly secretariat, Prem Subedi.

The candidacies would be presented in the Province Assembly meeting for discussion and consideration. The ruling alliance of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) have already made an agreement that UML would get Chief Minister and Maoist Centre the Speaker.


As per agreement, UML Parliamentary Party leader Khagraj Adhikari has become Chief Minister and even secured the vote of confidence.


Among 60 members in the Province Assembly, Nepali Congress (NC) has 27, UML 22, Maoist Centre eight, RPP two and independent one.
