Dharan-Chatara-Sindhuli-Hetauda road construction expedited

SINDHULI, May 28: The authorities have expedited the construction of the Dharan-Chatara-Sindhuli-Hetauda road, achieving more than the target set for this year. 

According to Lalit Jung Khanal, the chief of the road project, road construction in the eastern area of the road has gained momentum. 

Around 60 per cent of the road construction and 80 per cent of bridge construction has been completed. "We have completed more than the targeted work. We are working further with the additional budget,” said Khanal. 

"Of the 43 bridges to be constructed in Sindhuli and Udayapur along the eastern section of the road, 28 have already been constructed. The remaining bridges, too, are being built," said Project Engineer Govinda Damaru. 

According to the project office at the western section, the construction of a 115 km stretch of the road from Biman of Kamalamai Municipality, Sindhuli, to Chaugada of Hetauda, Makwanpur, is underway. 
Likewise, the construction of a 134 km stretch from Basaha of Udayapur to Bhiman of Sindhuli has also gained momentum. 

A 25 kilometer stretch of the road from Sindhuli to Udayapur has been blacktopped. “The work in Udayapur section is complete. However, a 4 km-long stretch remains to be blacktopped in the Sindhuli section. As for the remaining work in the eastern section, base and sub-base have been laid for the construction,” added Khanal.

According to the project, the western section comprises of 33 bridges, 397 hume pipes, 19 box culverts, 4 slab culverts. “The maintenance of the road is going on. The blacktopping of the road has begun from Hatpate Bhaluwai of Dudhauli Municipality,” said one of the locals, Ghanashyam Rawat.
