Dhakal named as ‘Special Global Envoy of World Summit’

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Former Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ek Nath Dhakal has been named the “Special Global Envoy of World Summit”. The announcement was made on 12 September from New York by Dr Thomas G. Walsh, int’l chair of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) during the Think-Tank 2022 Rally of Hope. 

Following the announcement, Global Envoy Dhakal was felicitated at a program organized in Kathmandu on Friday. Former Vice President Parmanand Jha and Nepali Congress leader Chitralekha Yadav were among others who congratulated Dhakal for his new appointment. Speaking at the program, Dhakal said that he is humbled by this global responsibility and will do his best to fulfill it with utmost sincerity. Representing the Summit Organizing Committee, Special Envoy Dhakal is required to travel all over the world to meet and invite heads of state and government and other eminent world leaders. 

UPF is an international and interreligious network of individuals and organizations, including representatives from religions, governments, civil society and the private sector dedicated to achieving world peace. UPF supports and promotes the work of the United Nations and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals as an NGO in General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

The World Summit on Peace will be held in Seoul, Korea, organized by the UPF in partnership with other organizations. The Summit will be addressed by heads of state and government from all over the world.
