Devastating April 25 quake toll reaches 7,802

KATHMANDU, May 7: The death toll in the April 25 devastating earthquake that rocked various parts of the country has reached 7,802 as of 3:30 pm on Thursday afternoon.

Likewise, the number of injured in the Saturday quake and subsequent aftershocks is 15,911, according to the data provided by Nepal Police.


According to police, 1,698 have been killed in capital, 53 in Eastern Region, 5,628 in Central Region, 421 in Western Region and two in Midwestern Region.

Likewise, 9,026 in capital have sustained injuries, 322 in Eastern Region, 5,360 in Central Region, 1,179 in Western Region and 22 in Midwestern Region.  Similarly, according to record provided by police, one policeman, 289 Nepalis and 113 foreign nationals are still missing.

Police added they have handed over 1,676 dead bodies to relatives in capital, 50 in Eastern Region, 5,573 in Central Region, 382 in Western Region and two in Midwestern Region.

Some 602 police offices, 1,610 government offices, 2,494 education institutions, 100 heath offices, 296,983 private houses and 1,054 other building have been damaged by the quake.
