KATHMANDU, July 11: Deputy Speaker Indira Rana has emphasized the need to brand and promote goods produced in Nepal in the international market. Speaking at a press conference held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, she shared her insights gained while attending the Eco Forum Global Guiyang-2023 program in Guiyang province of China, from July 8 to 9.

During her visit, Rana found that Guiyang province had successfully branded and exported their local products worldwide. Inspired by this initiative, she emphasized the importance of adopting a similar approach in Nepal.

"It was incredible to witness the success of their organic chocolate brand and how they were able to showcase their local products to the world," Rana said. "We have the potential to do the same with our unique products, such as Yaben Moutai – distilled liquor made from white millet and grains. We should brand and export it to the global market."

Accompanied by a parliamentary team, Deputy Speaker Rana returned to Nepal on the evening of July 10. Among the members were Maina Karki, Bhagwati Chaudhary, Dr Chanda Karki Bhandari, and Federal Parliament Secretariat’s Deputy Secretary Bimalraj Joshi, who were all enthusiastic about exploring opportunities to promote Nepali products worldwide.

The deputy speaker's vision to brand and export Nepali products resonates with the government's efforts to boost the country's economy through sustainable and globally recognized trade. With the right branding strategies and market access, Nepal has the potential to position itself as a producer of high-quality indigenous goods on the international stage, fostering economic growth and promoting national pride, said Deputy Speaker Rana.
