APF edged past Nepal Sports Club of Far-western Region in convincing fashion during the match played at the covered hall of Dasharath Stadium, Tripureshwar. APF registered 25-14, 25-22, 25-11 win to fix the semifinal date with G-Four-Sports Club of Dolakha. Kailash Bhatta of APF was declared the man-of-the-match.[break]
The Dolakha´s team toiled hard to beat Western Region Volleyball Training Center. G-Four which won the first set 25-23 was forced to fight until the last set for victory as it lost the second and fourth set 20-25-, 23-25. G-Four took the third set 25-18 and decisive set 15-10. Ram Shrestha of winning side won the man-of-the-match award.
Meanwhile, Nepal Army Club fixed semifinal date with arch rival Nepal Police Club. Army registered straight set win over Bhaktapur Young Circle 25-14, 25-9, 25-16. Deepak Thapa of Army was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
In the last quarterfinal of the day, Police ran into tough resistance of University Sports Association though the departmental team clinched victory in straight sets. Police beat the University team 27-25, 25-22, 25-18. Sanjay Aryal of winning team won the man-of-the-match award.
The match against Police and Army will be the first among departmental teams in the current tournament. The semifinal match of both men´s and women´s section will be held on Thursday.
Western Region will meet Police team in women´s semifinal while Armed Police Force (APF) Club will lock horns against New Diamond.
