Dengue is highly prevailing in Butwal municipality in Rupandehi district. Altogether 127 patients including 110 in Butwal, two in Bhairahawa, two in Anandaban, two in Devdaha, one in Makrahar are found to be infected by dengue in the district, the Office informed.

Fear of dengue still prevails

Meanwhile, health workers have warned that the dengue epidemic will prevail in Chitwan round the year.

They said the fear of dengue may exist throughout the year since mosquitoes transferring dengue disease could survive in the current temperature here even if winter season is around.

The maximum and minimum temperature of Chitwan is recorded to be 40 and 20, respectively. The degree of temperature is very appropriate for the life cycle of mosquitoes, doctors said.

´The temperature of Chitwan is appropriate for all animals´, said physician Dr. Shital Adhikari of Chitwan Medical College, adding there is high chance that dengue could remain as epidemic in Chitwan round the year since mosquitoes could survive in the temperature of winter season here.

Number of patients being infected by dengue has been on the rise in Chitwan for the past three months. Some 17 are undergoing treatment at the Chitwan Medical College and a patient identified as dengue infected died here.

At least 18 patients died in hospitals in Chitwan due to high fever during the last three months. As much as 416, who visited hospitals for fever examination, have been detected with dengue.
