They protested at the Office of the District Development Committee (DDC), Saptari, saying the VDC Secretary, Rabendra Mandal had not provided the allowance for the past six months.[break]
The villagers also picketed in-front of the office of the Local Development Officer and chanted slogans saying they have not got the last installment of the allowance of the last fiscal year which they had to receive till July 9.
According to the DDC, Saptari, the amount could not be sent to all VDCs as the amount sent by the Ministry was not enough.
An official at the DDC, Saptari, said that the office could not send allowance to 64 VDCs of the district, which has 114 VDCs and one municipality.
The DDC said that thousands of senior citizens, single women and disabled of the VDCs have now to wait till Dashain festival for the same.
The government has been providing Rs. 500 to each senior citizen, Rs. 500 to each single woman and Rs. 1,000 to each completely disabled person.
