Delegation from Nuwakot seeks PM’s role to sort out district issues

KATHMANDU, March 29: A delegation from Nuwakot led by Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat today called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and apprised him of several issues faced by the district.

KATHMANDU, March 29: A delegation from Nuwakot led by Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat today called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and apprised him of several issues faced by the district. 


During a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, the delegation apprised the government head that a delay in the completion of the Kakani-Nuwakot road project had largely caused inconvenience to the people. As the delegation said, it has already been 10 years since the finalization of the project contract.


Dr Mahat spoke of the need of the Prime Minister’s initiative to see a prompt progress in the project and get it completed.

Besides, the delegation through a memorandum has urged the government to pay heed to the concerns of locals while managing a dumping site at Banchare Danda in the district. 


Moreover, the delegation sought government intervention to sort out the problems related to the non-registration of Guthi land in remote villages in the district. In response, the Prime Minister pledged to immediately consult the chiefs concerned to find a solution to the issues the delegation raised in the memo. 


NC central member and lawmakers Bahadur Singh Lama, NC district president Ramesh Mahat, and District Land Commission Nuwakot Chief Arjun Neupane were among those in the delegation.
