Deepak Manange fails to submit 29 million bail, sent to jail

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: The special court on Tuesday sent gangster Deepak Manage aka Rajiv Gurung to Sadar Khor Dillibazar jail after he failed to submit a bail amount of Rs 29 million.



A three-member bench of the Special Court Chairman Kedar Prasad Chalise and members Bhupendra Prasad Rai and Mohan Raman Bhattarai issued the order after hearings on whether or not to send Manange to judicial custody.



Under-secretary at the Special Court Keshav Prasad Ghimire told Republica online that  the court decided to send him jail as he failed to submit the bail amount.



Similarly, Manange’s wife Pasang Dolma Gurung released on Tuesday as she deposited a bail amount of Rs 2,50,000 as demanded by the Special court. [break]



The CIB on Friday night had arrested Manange from the City Center mall located at Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu. The Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DoMLI) on May 19 had filed cases against Manange and four other notorious gangsters at the Special Court for amassing properties through illegal sources. Manange has been accused of amassing Rs 147.3 million.
