KATHMANDU, Nov 8: The half-decomposed body recovered from Bode of Bhaktapur last Saturday has been identified to be of a 23-year-old girl killed by her lover.
The Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Tuesday arrested the alleged perpetrator in the charge of killing his own beloved in cold blood. The arrested has been identified as nineteen-year-old Mukti Lamichhane aka Resham, originally from Okhreni-1 of Ramechap district, and currently living in Bode of Bhaktapur.
The girl from Mahankaal of Sindhupalchowk district had been living in Budhanilkantha of Kathmandu.
Police investigation has found out that Resham allegedly murdered the girl in cold blood in his rented home in Bode on October 26 and disposed the body 2 km away. Soon after the girl went missing, her father had filed a 'missing' report at the MPCD to find.
Earlier, Resham acted innocent and had also accompanied the girl's father to find her. But after the police recovered the half-decomposed body hidden in a sack on November 5, the police were able to uncover the mystery behind the murder.
According to SP Prakash Jung Karki of the MPCD, Resham had threatened the victim's father demanding ransom of Rs 15 million using the cell phone of the same girl in Hindi language. But, while connecting the dots about the crime, we were able to establish the relationship between the victim and the perpetrator, he said adding.
According to the police, Resham has confessed that he killed his beloved in a sudden fit of anger following disputes about her alleged affair with another man at her workplace.
Resham, who worked together with the girl until seven months ago, told the police that the main reason behind the murder was to take revenge after she dumped him.
On the day of the murder, he called her near Gopi Krishna cinema hall and asked her to accompany her to his home in Bode of Bhaktapur. He attacked her with a sharp weapon after the disputes aroused between the two.
The body was found hidden in a sack in the bushes after the locals noticed that the head was poking out from the sack. The body with red sweater and brown pants was later identified by the victim's family. The girl had a sharp injury mark in her head. The arrested has been sent to Bhaktapur for further interrogation.
