Pompeo, Gyawali discuss Nepal's central role in Indo-Pacific strategy

Visiting Foreign Minister Padeep Kumar Gyawali held talks with his counterpart Michael R. Pompeo  in Washington on Wednesday. During the meeting, US Secretary of State Pompeo highlighted the enduring strength of the U.S.-Nepal partnership and the close people-to-people ties that form the foundation of the relationship, according to a press statement issued by the Deputy Spokesperson of the State Department Robert Palladino.

Govt reiterates its commitment to complete Melamchi project on time

The Ministry of Water Supply reiterated its commitment to complete the Melamchi Drinking Water Project within the stipulated deadline. The ministry has claimed to accomplish the project even after the Italian Company Cooperativa Muratori Cementisti (CMC) quit the project at the final phase of the construction.

DPR agreement signed for monorail in Kathmandu

An agreement has been signed today with a Chinese company for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of monorail to be built along the 27.5 kilometers long Ring Road in Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) signed the agreement with the China Railway's 25th Bureau Group Co for the same.

53 journalists killed worldwide so far in 2018

The number of journalists killed worldwide in retaliation for their work nearly doubled this year, according to an annual report by the Committee to Protect Journalists. The New York-based organization found that 34 journalists were killed in retaliation for their work as of Dec. 14, while at least 53 were killed overall. That compares to 18 retaliation killings among the 47 deaths documented by the committee in 2017.
