GORKHA, July 7: On Friday, Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality became the third local unit of Gorkha to publicize its policies and programs. So as to impress the locals, the rural municipality has announced some really interesting programs for the upcoming fiscal year.

There are 11 local units in the district and Chamanubri and Siranchowk rural municipalities are yet to endorse their policies and programs for the upcoming new fiscal year. While publicizing the programs and policies of Bhimsen Rural municipality, Chairperson Ishwar Pandey introduced a program which won the hearts of people. "Parents with only daughters won't have to bother about their school fees until they pass grade 12," said Chairperson Pandey, adding, "But the rural municipality will take their responsibility only if the couple has adopted permanent birth control measures after giving birth to two daughters."

Similarly, it has decided to help teachers willing to do their PhD. "The rural municipality will manage scholarship for those teachers who want to do their PhDs," he added. Apart from that, the local unit will be distributing lunch in schools and sanitary pads for girls. Not just that, the rural municipality will open a bank account worth Rs 1,000 in the name of the children born to underprivileged families.

Women delivering their babies at health centers will be provided a grant of Rs 1,500 each. Besides that, the rural municipality has prioritized agriculture, tourism, education and health sector. It has also assured to provide appropriate compensation to the locals who will be displaced by the Budhigandaki Hydropower Project.
