DAO takes action against 18 shops in Banepa

BANEPA: A market inspection team led by the District Administration Office (DAO) of Kavre on Saturday has taken action against 18 retailers in Banepa after they were found being involved in market anomalies like selling outdated products and not putting levels on the products.



Some of the retailers had to face action for not maintaining cleanliness and operating without license, among others. [break]



“All sorts of wrong practices take place in the market during the festive season. Keeping this in view, we form monitoring teams to carry out inspection at regular intervals,” Nandi Kesar Tripati, Deputy Chief District Officer (CDO) said.



According to him, sweet shops, restaurants, bakeries and dairies were among the retailers lacked cleanliness and hygiene.

A lot of the retail shops were caught operating without license or without renewing it, Tripati added.



Meanwhile, the monitoring team also has directed the operator of a pharmacy called Prabesh Pharma to be present at the DAO in three days for clarification.

The pharmacy was found selling medicines through uncertified medical practitioners. Moreover, the DAO have written a letter to the Department of Drug Administration to carry out further action against the pharmacy under the Drug Act.
