District Secretary of the UCPN (Maoist) Subhash Pun said the Maoists would not take forced donations and urged entrepreneurs not to give any money if some party cadres come to demand donations.
Security heads said correct information about such threats would go a long way in stopping the donation terror. “We face difficulty in carrying out investigations as businessmen withhold information about donation-related threats. The entrepreneurs had called the political parties and security agencies to the meeting to state their commitment after daily extortion threats by phone, mail and SMS terrorized the business community.
Dang President of the PABSON Keshav Thapa said over 15 private schools in the district have received threatening letters demanding anything from Rs 100,000 to a million.
Underground outfits had been using terror tactics in Tulsipur and other parts of western Dang previously but have now starting to issue threats to entrepreneurs at district headquarters as well.
