“When their families told us that the marriage is not possible in Ashar [mid-June/mid-July], they tied their knots on Sunday, the last day of Nepali month of Jestha.” Family members were also present during the ceremony which was held late night at around 11 pm.

“Their families wanted to perform the wedding rituals at a temple but it was not possible during this lockdown period, so we advised them to get married with banyan and fig trees as witnesses as per our Hindu tradition,” said Aryal. He had also recited mantras during the ceremony.

The couple also returned home on the same day after testing negative for COVID-19 via the PCR method.
