Daily turnover soars to Rs 11.65 billion while NEPSE sheds 12.04 points

KATHMANDU, May 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday declined 12.04 points to close at 2,661.64 points. 


According to stockbrokers, the secondary market performed adversely after the investors rushed to book their gains out of the escalated price of shares on Wednesday when the market index inclined more than 62 points.  


The secondary market opened at 2,673.69 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,656.17 points within the first half an hour. The market went through a series of fluctuations before it hit the day’s high at 2,687.39 points when 53 minutes remained for the trading. The market shed around 26 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Five out of the 13 groups were the gainers, with finance adding the largest of 104.93 points. Of the losers, the trading index declined by the highest of 91.58 points. 


The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 2.34 points. Daily turnover amount escalated to Rs 11.65 billion from Rs 10.51 billion on Wednesday.


Among the individual companies, 96 were gainers while 150 were recorded as losers. Ngadi Group Power had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 784.59 million.


Sindhu Bikash Bank with a decline of 4.15 percent of its market price was recorded as the highest loser. Nepal Micro Insurance Company and Crest Micro Life Insurance were the topmost gainers.
