KATHMANDU, Jan 22: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday rose by an extraordinary 52.36 points to close at 2,665.45 points, while the daily turnover surged by 50 percent.
The secondary market opened at 2,613.08 points and gradually inclined to the day’s high at 2,666.99 points when only 50 minutes trading time was left. During the remaining period, the market shed more than one point before it closed for the day.
Nepse up for a fifth consecutive week
All the 13 groups had their market values increase. Life insurance index went up by the highest of 243.25 points, while a total of five groups witnessed a rise of three-digit points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, gained 8.65 points. Daily turnover stood at Rs 9.20 billion, a jump of 50 percent from the amount on Tuesday.
Among the individual companies, 196 were gainers while 37 were registered as losers. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 613.64 million.
Corporate Development Bank and Dolti Power Company gained the highest of 10 percent of their market values. Barahi Hydropower Public Limited, with a fall by 8.21 percent of its market price, was recorded as the highest loser.
