DAILEKH, Nov 30: The overdue big development projects in the district are still awaiting execution.

The right time for the implementation of development projects, and hearing the problems of the people is often only during elections in the country, a bad trend going on for long.

Now, as the December 7 elections are fast approaching, the locals are looking forward to seizing this opportunity to share and complain about the sluggish development projects with the political parties, who are like in previous elections are launching election campaigns to woo voters.

They have demanded execution of the long halted projects.

Three years ago after being elected as a minister, then Industry Minister reached the district and announced to extract petroleum product from Shiristhan, a promise that is yet to be kept.

Similarly, despite extending deadline many times, the construction of the Upper Karnali Project is yet to get accelerated for various reasons.

The Dailekh-Surkhet road section has suffered potholes at many places, let along fulfilling commitments to construct two-lane pitched road.

President of the Dailekh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Shanti Sharma said the representatives to be elected from the upcoming polls must extract gases from rivers in the districts, and declare the district Panchakoshi religious area.

Likewise, the locals demanded that the dispute regarding blacktopping Dailekh road section under Mid-Hill Highway must end, and the construction starts.

The road is essential for trade, said General Sectary of the CCI, Dailekh Narendra Thapa. RSS
