Dahal at the eight-party meeting on Monday expressed serious objection to the absence of top leaders from ruling CPN-UML.
He accused top leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML of trying to impose their views on the opposition parties instead of making genuine efforts and trying to find proper solution."UML Chairman [KP Oli] didn't even show up at today's meeting even as we need genuine and serious efforts to carry out very sensitive and tough tasks at this crucial juncture," Dahal told a group of reporters at his chamber at Constituent Assembly (CA) building, New Baneshwar after the eight-party meeting.
Leader of the main opposition, Dahal, expressed his dissatisfaction that the ruling parties didn't support him in his reconciliatory approach.
Stating that political deals are possible only if both the sides worked responsibly, he claimed that he wasn't receiving such support these days.
"Every major political deal was made possible in the past only after both the sides became ready to take certain risk," he said. "Last week, I had to take a bold decision while withdrawing planned protests but the ruling side isn't responding equally responsibly."
The absence of UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and two other top leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal irked Dahal and other opposition leaders. All top three leaders didn't attend the meeting even as they all arrived at the same building to attend the CA meeting just ahead of the eight-party meeting.
While emerging from the CA meeting, Oli told reporters that he had no knowledge about the eight-party meeting there.
After that, Oli went to Sundhara to enjoy sightseeing from the Dharahara tower instead.
UML Vice-chair Bhim Rawal, who led the party's team at the meeting, however, claimed that there was no point in expressing any dissatisfaction over the top leaders' absence as he was fully prepared to reach any deal on behalf of his party if required.
Dahal also expressed his serious objection to CA Chairman Subas Nembang's decision to call next CA meeting for April 19.
"I had suggested to the CA chairman to fix the date for next sitting only after reaching an understanding among top leaders from major political parties but he convened the leaders' meet only after announcing the date for next plenary," said Dahal.
According to him, he had earlier on Sunday suggested to Nembang to call the next CA plenary after a gap of around three weeks. "But the chairman gave less than a week," he said.
During the meeting Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa demanded that his party should be allowed to register their differing views on some of the key political agenda items even if other major parties don't support their proposals to include them in the new constitution.
No opposition party in parliament!
