Dahal, who also heads the Lumbini Development National Directive Committee, is accompanied by Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Minendra Rijal, businessman Manoj Bahadur Shrestha, his son Prakash and Dahal´s personal secretary Sameer Dahal.[break]
Speaking to journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Dahal said, “We all have realized the need for Lumbini development. Several efforts had been made in the past but political instability made the task difficult. So, we will now garner the support of international community for Lumbini development.”
He said Lumbini could be a land of peace for entire humanity. Dahal informed that the delegation is scheduled to meet UN General Secretary Ban-Ki Moon on Tuesday and discuss the master plan for Lumbini development and request for the latter´s help for the project.
Earlier, talking to media persons after a meeting of the subcommittee formed to resolve disputes in constitution writing in Singha Durbar, Dahal said he would seek cooperation and support from international agencies, including the United Nations, for Lumbini development as well as Nepal´s peace process during his New York visit.
The cabinet on October 26 had endorsed Dahal´s visit to New York.

The government on October 17 had formed a six-member committee headed by Dahal with the mandate of preparing a master plan for Lumbini development and seeking international assistance for the Lumbini Development Fund.
The committee comprises NC leader Rijal, Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Wakil Musalman, CPN-UML leader Dr Mangal Siddhi Manandhar, among others.
