“Whenever there is a major issue to attend to, Prachanda avoids doing it saying Baidya and Bhattarai have complicated things. And it’s nothing but an excuse,” Mahat said during a press meet organized by the Press Union in Chitwan on Sunday morning.[break]
Of late, Chairman Dahal, widely known by his nome de guerre Prachanda, has remained at odds with his deputies Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Mohan Baidya over determining party line to deal with issues related to the peace and constitution drafting processes and the party’s future course of action.
On the occasion, the NC leader also said there is an increasing chance of the peace process being affected with Dahal not having the courage of conviction. “If Prachanda decides on something, nobody will oppose that in the party. It’s just that he wants to feign factionalism.”
Mahat further accused Dahal of showing double standards in the integration process of Maoist combatants. “In public, Prachanda says Maoists will comply with the Nepal Army integration norms but on the inside, he says they will only follow the Directorate parameters.”
“As the largest party, Maoists should not turn away from their duties,” said Mahat, who arrived in Chitwan to impart trainings to party workers as part of NC’s awareness program.
