KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The leader of the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Center), Puspa Kamal Dahal, has challenged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to make a decision to raise Rs 22 billion arrears of dedicated and trunk line of electricity through the Cabinet. Dahal made the challenge while speaking during a special session in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

"Since the prime minister couldn't take the decision he wanted, he took to Facebook. If the prime minister's intentions are genuine, let him take the proposal to raise the Rs 22 billion in arrears to the next Cabinet meeting and get it passed. You have the support of the main opposition regarding this,” he said.

He further stated that if the proposal for Rs 22 billion is not brought to the next Cabinet meeting, the country will understand even more clearly the PM's true intentions.

Dahal also demanded that PM Oli provide an explanation regarding the Nepal Electricity Authority's (NEA) dispute over dedicated and trunk line tariffs. He argued that the PM should be questioned directly, as it was the PM who halted the NEA from collecting arrears while simultaneously blaming others.
