NEA disconnects power supply to Hulas Steels in tariff dispute of dedicated and trunk lines

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is preparing to disconnect power lines of more industries due to the tariff arrears dispute of dedicated and trunk lines. The NEA disconnected the power supply to Hulas Steels on Monday morning. 


NEA sources revealed that they are preparing to disconnect the lines of more industries that failed to pay dues. The arrears of Hulas Steels stand at Rs 440 million.

"We disconnected the line of Hulas Steels. Now other lines will be disconnected," said a senior officer of the NEA.


The NEA has cut the lines of 24 industries since December 22 out of 61 industries that have not paid their dues. After paying the installment of the outstanding dues, the line of Himal Iron and Steel has been reconnected. Those 61 industries owe Rs 22.24 billion to the NEA.
