The Dashain fever will not really spare anyone; leave alone a newspaper vendor or a milkman, who give the streets a big amiss.[break]
Scary though it sounds as the week unfolds before us, this, however, doesn’t mean you are going to miss all the fun. You can always turn your lackluster and idle moments into fun and party. So, how about organizing a house party and have fun? They can be of huge fun and at the same time never get you into debt since they are economical. Another advantage of such parties is that they can have guests bringing in food and beverages you will need for the bash.
Here are a few useful tips you need to follow in order to throw a perfect party which you and your friends are going to remember the whole year round.
The set up
Foremost is the set-up. For this, you need to decide the venue or select an area of your house, where you are throwing the party. It is never a good idea to keep the whole house open for the party for you cannot rule out the likelihood of damage caused to expensive household goods. Moreover, you will need a huge amount of cleanup once the party is over. You don’t want to be cleaning the whole house, do you?
You will need to exercise a little more prudence and thrift by setting aside cutleries, plates and glasses for the drinks. It’s always easy to use disposable stuffs because they are affordable and need no washing the next morning. All you can do is dump them in the garbage bin.
Cover up the dining area with linen and keep the food in such a way that the guests can help themselves!
Also, while deciding on the menu, try and keep it simple. Khasi is the flavor of the mouth for everyone, followed by chicken ko masu. But to have all the ingredients of a good dish, load other veggies; and add fruits and dry fruits as well.
You also need to have slices of bread, butter, cheese, layer of meat, among others, to make different kinds of sandwiches. Grilled sandwiches with the meat and vegetable leftovers could be an excellent idea. If you have culinary skills, you could add innovation and some creativity to make various other meat dishes. And, there is definitely not going to be a dearth of meat this Dashain.
Prepare fruit salads, and with some chips and few cookies, you’re ready. Oops! I have forgotten something: You might want to buy extra loaves of bread beforehand since bakeries may close during Dashain.
As regards beverages, it can simply be juices, soda or you may want to include a bit of alcohol. It is never a bad idea to exclude the alcohol, but if you have to have it on the menu, try to limit it as much as possible to avoid a drunken brawl. This will not only prevent possible fights but also help your friends reach home safe and sound. We see you’re rolling your eyes, but it’s for your good!
Decorating the party area is definitely a good idea. Why not stick up a few colorful kites on the walls. And, if possible, hung a few colorful lights up the ceiling. It’ll not only make the place look colorful but also add a theme to party!
During the party
The host should always keep an eye to see to it that something unpleasant is not brewing up. Make sure your friends are having fun and nobody is left out in the corner high and dry. Some friends can be bit shy and to break that shield of shyness, you have to play a role by paying them an extra attention.
Make sure that the music is not atrocious to ears and the volume is turned on accordingly; you might also want to cover the windows so that the noise does not escape irritating your neighbor. You don’t want your neighbors to lodge a complaint or, let the dogs howling, do you?
Make sure that the party is organized within the allotted boundary and decorum of the house and your friends do not trespass the restricted zones.
The most important thing for you to be doing during the party is having fun. Enjoy your time among friends. It’s your place and after all it was your concept of the house party and hard work.
Post bash!
After the party is over and most of your friends have left, there will certainly be one or two of your closest mates left to help you do the cleaning stuff.
Begin with untangling the music and light wires. Also put the speakers and other equipments you used back in place. Then begin collecting all the napkins and glasses that have not been disposed off into a huge dustbin you placed before the celebration began.
You are now ready to remove all the covers you placed on the dining area and other places; do your job with vacuum cleaner and replace all the expensive stuff you had moved away. Sit back and relax, and congratulate yourself for hosting a great party!
