The family members of Kopila Adhikari who came to Helping Hands Community Hospital at Chabahil due to emergency stomachache had to suffer a lot due to the mobile network disruption. Adhikari´s family member was expressing anger toward NT as the doctor prescribed Adhikari for emergency operation but they could not contact other members of their family.

Sharmila Mulepati, owner of Pagoda Guest House in Bhaktapur had difficulty convincing Chinese guests as there was no internet connectivity till 11 am Saturday morning. “I do not know what the problem was but filed the complaint at 198 and thank God it was solved by 11 am or else it would have been difficult time for me,” said Mulepati.

“There was a problem in the transmission linkage between the Mobile Switching Center (MSC) server and the gateway at our Babermahal office as the cable had been cut off. The problem in the ADSL connectivity in some area was also due to the linkage problem between some ADSL cabinets,” said Guna Keshari Pardhan, a NT spokesperson.

Though social media like Facebook and Twitter was filled with complaints and anger regarding the disruption of the mobile service and internet from last night, NT says that the interruption was only from 5:50 am to 9:45 am.

“The problem was only for four hours and that too in the Valley only,” said Pradhan, adding that the post-paid and the internet services were not interrupted in all areas.

When Republica asked about the loss caused due to the interruption in the service, Pradhan said that they are yet to calculate the figure.

“The loss may not be heavy in terms of monetary value as the traffic is mostly low on Saturday and it was morning time, but the loss for us is intense as the customers had to suffer a lot,” said Pradhan.
