KHOTANG, September 6: The CPN-UML District Committee members in Khotang district are making efforts to minimize the number of elected people’s representatives of the party to join the newly-formed party, CPN (Unified Socialist) led by Madhav Kumar Nepal.

A meeting held at the district headquarters in Diktel on Saturday and Sunday, UML district committee discussed in detail about the plan to reduce the numbers of party members signing their support for the CPN (Unified Socialist).

Speaking to the media persons on Monday, the UML Chairman Ram Prasad Dangal stressed on the need to stand and fight against a strong force that has conspired to split the CPN-UML and hand over the country to reactionary forces. He urged the people’s representatives, who were elected under the UML, not to support the party split.

Earlier, the Election Commission had issued a September 7 deadline for the party’s provincial lawmakers and elected people’s representatives of the local level to choose the party whether they want to stay with the CPN-UML or become party of the CPN(Unified Socialist).
