CPN-UML to contest by-election without forging political alliance

KATHMANDU, Nov 9: The ruling party CPN-UML announced on Saturday that it will compete alone in the by-elections scheduled for December 1. 


A meeting of the central committee of the party held at the party headquarters in Kathmandu discussed preparations and nomination of candidates for the upcoming by-election and decided that the party will be contesting the election without forging any political alliance.

Deputy General Secretary of the party Pradeep Gyawali, however, said that the party has not yet ruled out an election alliance. “We have not taken the final decision on this matter,” he told Republica.


He added that the party will contest the election in accordance with the established principles of the party in absence of election alliance. “As of  now, we have decided to compete alone according to our established beliefs,” he said, “And our conclusion is that there will be a healthy competition with the coalition partner Nepali Congress.”
