KATHMANDU,May 16: The Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist) has sought resignation of Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut from the post, expressing its reservations to some of his acts during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's the recent Nepal state visit (May 11-12).
The Chief Minister has been accused of giving anti-constitution statement and hurting the sentiments of people primarily of the majority of Province people by giving his welcome speech in Hindi instead of Maithili during the civic felicitation of the Indian Prime Minister. Prime Minister Modi had begun his visit from Janakpur, the temporary capital of province 2.

Through a press statement today, party general secretary CP Mainali said the chief minister of province formed as per the constitution, pleading before the foreign Prime Minister to interfere in the country's domestic affairs was against the constitution of Nepal and national integrity. The party has demanded immediate State action against all those people responsible for such moves. It has also condemned the statement intended to disintegrate Nepal given by Bhartiya Janata Party's lawmaker Kirti Azad of India, Bihar through the social network.
"South plains from west to the Koshi River and east to the Rapti was captured through the Sugauli Treaty reached between Nepal and Indian East India Company Government on March 4, 1816 was the part of Nepal before many years of the agreement and the government should present its views on the subject with historic evidences and make sure the withdrawal of such opinion," the statement further reads.
