UML seeks resignation of Health Minister Khatiwada over spread of misinformation

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The main opposition party, CPN-UML has demanded the resignation of Minister for Health and Population, Birodh Khatiwada, accusing the minister of lying and trying to spread misinformation to the masses.

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The main opposition party, CPN-UML has demanded the resignation of Minister for Health and Population, Birodh Khatiwada, accusing the minister of lying and trying to spread misinformation to the masses. 


“As a liar has been appointed to a ministerial position of the country, the party demands an immediate resignation,” a press release by the UML reads.

The press release reads that Minister Khatiwwda had lied about procuring his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine for Rs 5,000 when KP Sharma Oli was leading the government in a recent interview. 


According to the Health Department of CPN-UML, Minister Khatiwada had received his first dose of vaccine against COVID-19 on February 23, 2021, from Civil Hospital during the course of the free vaccination campaign for parliament lawmakers. 


The press note also reads that Minister Khatiwada has created rumors on sensitive issues like COVID-19 by giving false information to the general public to discredit the previous government. The party has demanded his resignation over the matter.
