KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Film artists close to CPN-Maoist have vandalized the offices of Nepal Cable TV at Anamnagar on Monday, accusing it of refusing to stop broadcasting Indian channel Zee TV, which had broadcasted a tele-serial that showed that Lord Buddha was born in India.

According to DSP Hobindra Bogati, chief of Metropolitan Police Circle Office, Singh Durbar, a group of eight to 10 people vandalized the office, but they had already left the place before police arrived. "We are investigating the case and will soon nab those involved in the vandalizing," said Bogati. Had the operator of the cable service informed the police after they were threatened, the office wouldn´t have been vandalized. According to Bogati, three sets of TV and tables were destroyed by the Maoist cadres. [break]

All Nepal Revolutionary Film Artists Association, the film artists close to CPN-Maoist, had submitted a memorandum to the TV office to stop broadcasting Zee TV channel.
