KATHMANDU, April 16: The infection rate of coronavirus has started to rise in Sudurpaschim (Far Western) Province for a few weeks. According to the statistics of the Far Western Health Directorate, Dipayal, 223 people were infected in the province in the last 11 days. During this period, 7,084 swab samples were tested by PCR and antigen methods.

Health workers say that with the increase in the infection rate, the death rate caused by the disease may also increase. Last Thursday, the infection was confirmed in 36 people on the same day. With the increase in the Covid-19 infection rate, the number of active cases has also increased.

At present there are 22 active patients in Kailali and one in Kanchanpur. With the increase in the coronavirus infection in India, it has also started to increase in Nepal.

The Covid-19 infection is seen more in Nepalis coming from India through the border. Health workers say that even though the Covid-19 infection is increasing, there is a risk that the spread of this disease may increase due to the negligence of the general public in following the prescribed health safety standards.

It has been observed that the common people walk randomly without using the prescribed masks, without maintaining social distance from each other, and lack compliance with health safety standards.

Ramesh Shahi, laboratory in-charge of Seti Provincial Hospital, said that the coronavirus infection rate may increase further. "If the number of people who get their samples tested increases, the number of Covid-19 'positive' patients may also increase," he said.

In the case of infected citizens who enter through the country through the Nepal-India border, they will be informed and coordinated through 'Health Desk' of their municipalities. But the health workers said that there is no information if the municipality has taken any initiative to prevent the infection. After the increase in the number of Covid-19 infections, booster doses of vaccines against the coronavirus have been administered through health institutions.

The government is going to give the first dose of booster vaccine to those who have completed three months of full dose vaccination against Covid-19 and missed the first booster vaccination and the second booster dose to those who have completed six months of first booster dose of vaccination.

Health workers, pregnant women, chronically ill people over 12 years old, people with reduced immunity and all citizens over 55 years old can get a booster dose of the vaccine. It is said that those infected with Covid-19 can take this booster dose after one month of being free of infection.

Since the spread of Covid-19 has appeared, so far 654,818 samples have been tested in the Far Western Province. Out Of these, 62,200 infections have been confirmed.
