KATHMANDU, May 30: The rate of infection of coronavirus decreased by 16 percent in Nepal, when compared with the rate a month ago. The infection rate was 44 to 46 percent, which decreased to 30 percent on Saturday.
Among the 14,752 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 4,487 tested positive for COVID-19, taking the country’s case tally to 553,422. As many as 300,732 people were infected by COVID-19 following the second wave of the pandemic.

Also, 116 people died on Saturday, taking the death toll to 7,163, with 4,139 deaths added in the last two months following the second wave of COVID-19. The death rate from COVID-19 in Nepal is 1.29 percent at the moment.
There are currently 111,509 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. As many as 103,700 people are staying in home isolation while 7,809 are in institutional isolation wards. Also, 1,614 people are undergoing treatment in ICUs and 457 are in ventilators.
