Coronavirus death toll in Gandaki Province soars to 51

POKHARA, Oct 19: The coronavirus-related death toll in Gandaki Province has risen to 51 as a 48-year-old woman from Baglung Municipality-13 succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday morning.

The woman, who had tested positive for the virus on Sunday, died at Kushma Municipality-5 in Parbat. She was also suffering from diabetes.

Meanwhile, the province’s coronavirus case tally has reached 5,816 with 19 new cases of COVID-19 recorded on Monday morning.

According to Gandaki Province Health Directorate, the 19 new cases were detected during polymerase chain reaction tests (PCR) conducted at Tuberculosis Treatment Center, Pokhara. Of the new coronavirus patients, nine are from Kaski, six from Tanahu, two each from Parbat and Lamjung, the directorate stated.
