KATHMANDU, April 5: A meeting of the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) party merger coordination committee held today at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar has set April 22 for the announcement of the party unification.
The meeting also initiated discussions on the proposals on organizational and ideological taskforces presented in the Committee meeting on Tuesday.
On the occasion, Committee member and CPN (Maoist Center) leader Narayankaji Shrestha said that remaining issues in this regard would be finalized in the next coordination meeting after the return of Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli from India visit.
Shrestha informed that an understanding has been reached to start preparations from both the respective parties for the party unification announcement acting on the recommendations of both the taskforces.
The CPN-UML has called its central committee meeting for April 20 for party unification preparations.
Both the taskforces have suggested announcing party unification on April 22, the establishment day of Nepal Communist Party.
