CHITWAN, Dec 18: Two construction companies getting a contract to work on the Narayangadh-Muglin road widening project have been fined Rs 7.5 million for failing to complete works within the agreed time.
According to project engineer Shiba Khanal, those companies slapped with a fine for causing delay in the completion of the 32.2-kilometer project remaining as a lifeline of the country are BLA Shrestha JV Construction Company and Supreme Rautaha JV Construction Company.

The first company which has the contract to widen and upgrade the first section (13-kimolometer) of the road was fined Rs 800 thousands while the second awarded the contract for the third section stretching from Simaltal to Muglin was slapped with a fine of Rs 6.7 millions. These companies failed to complete the works even in the extended deadline. Now they have the deadline (third) until February, 2018 to complete works.
In April 2015, the project had signed a contract with three companies including these two ones to complete it within the two years. Besides, they will be given additional 45 days for works to adjust time that was distributed by landslides, rains and elections.
So far the total progress on the project is just 66 per cent on average. RSS
