Constitutional Council meet to name chief justice postponed

KATHMANDU, April 21: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal postponed the meeting of Constitutional Council that was originally scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to our correspondent Kiran Chapagain.



The Constitutional Council is meeting to recommend the name of the next chief justice to replace the incumbent, Kedar Nath Giri who is retiring on May 4. The date for the next CC meeting has not been decided yet.



Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the cabinet will take place at 5 p.m., cabinet sources said.



The cabinet is set to take up the reply furnished by the chief of army staff, Rookmangud Katawal. Katwal was given a 24-hour deadline to reply to charges that he was “defying” the government’s orders.
