BEIJING, Sept 21: The Nepali Embassy in China on Tuesday organized a program on the occasion of Constitution Day. The event marked the first year of promulgation of new constitution in Nepal.
The government of Nepal has decided to observe Asoj 3 of the national calendar as the Constitution Day inside the country in commemoration of the promulgation of the new national charter whereas the Day will be celebrated as the National Day on September 20 abroad, according to Nepali Acting Ambassador to China Harishchandra Ghimire.
On the occasion, Acting Ambassador Ghimire lauded China's support to Nepal in the sector or commerce, education, development projects as well as development of human resources since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1963.
Acting Ambassador Ghimire stated, "China is a good neighbor to Nepal that respects Nepal's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence." He also reaffirmed Nepal's commitment to China's One-China policy.
Present at the program were Chinese Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Kong Xuanyou, representatives of the various diplomatic missions in Beijing, representatives of SAARC countries, representatives from ASEAN countries as well as former Nepalis ambassadors to China and Nepali community in China.
