Conflict victims demand status

KAPILVASTU, March 7: Some conflict victims in the district, who were tortured and displaced during the conflict time but not included in the list of conflict-hit, have asked for equal status as the other conflict victims have got from the state.

The people who were made victim by the state and rebel as well as in the name of rebel retaliation in the district have demanded justice, compensation and relief from the state side by including them in the list of conflict-hit.They have complained that they were not given relief and compensation from the state side adding that only those maintaining access to the power centres are the beneficiaries, said district chair of Society of Conflict Victims Ujagi Chaudhary.

Chaudhary said, "None of the victims have got justice. They should be included in the list of the conflict-hit and provided with the compensation."

Likewise, the families of the conflict victims have submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister via the District Administration Office (DAO) by demanding equal status to the conflict victims. RSS
