Singh will be accompanied by his wife Kamala and the Army Inspector General Major General Netra Bahadur Thapa.[break]
“The two Army Chiefs will discuss matters of mutual interest, including support to UN Peacekeeping Operations, Britain’s Brigade of Gurkhas, and resolution of the peace process in Nepal,” a press released issued by Embassy stated.
During his visit, Singh will meet senior staff at the Foreign Office and the Department for International Development and visit Royal Gurkha Rifles Battalion which is beginning specialist training prior to deploying to Afghanistan in Spring 2011.
“We hugely value the long standing relationship between Great Britain and Nepal and our two armies. A good relationship, however, does not always mean that we agree on everything. We will have frank discussions about matters of concern, particularly legacy of conflict issues and matters that effect the completion of the Peace Process,” a British Army spokesman commented on Singh’s visit.
