RATNANAGAR (CHITWAN), June 4: The Chitwan National Park (CNP) has issued a notice calling on the locals and visitors to adopt extra alertness when heading near any rivers citing crocodile breeding season.

CNP Information Official and Assistant Conservation Official, Nurendra Aryal, said the female crocs lay their eggs and hide them, and are given to be more aggressive in this season.

The CPN's notice comes in as many days following an attack on a fisherman near the Echarni river in the eastern section of the park.

During the attack which took place on Wednesday, Prasad Mahato – a local of the area – lost his arm, but escaped alive. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Alive Hospital in Bharatpur. The latest census has recorded the number of crocodiles at 168 in two rivers within the CNP. RSS
