KATHMANDU, May 12: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey expanded the cabinet on Friday by adding four ministers to give a full shape to the cabinet.

As there were many aspirants, CM Pandey was overwhelmed while picking up the ministers. With the addition of four ministers on Friday, the Pandey-led government now has a seven-member cabinet.

The newly-appointed ministers are Mahendra Dhwaj GC, Dipendra Bahadur Thapa, Jeet Prakash Ale and Resham Jugjali.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pandey had appointed Saraswati Aryal Tiwari and Sushila Simkhada as ministers only 15 days ago. Tiwari and Simkhada were appointed ministers without portfolio.

On Friday, Pandey appointed Jeet Prakash Ale as a minister at the expense of Rajiv Gurung aka Deepak Manange, a member of the provincial assembly of the CPN (Unified Socialist), who was aspiring to become a minister.

With the addition of the new ministers on Friday, the responsibilities of all the ministers have also been fixed. Jeet Prakash Ale has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Dipendra Bahadur Thapa has been given the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Forestry.

Similarly, Mahendra Dhwaj GC has been given the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Management, while Saraswati Aryal Tiwari has been given the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.

Similarly, Resham Bahadur Jugjali has been appointed as the Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport and Sushila Simkhada has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Development and Health. The four new ministers were administered the oath of office and secrecy by the province chief Prithviman Gurung on Friday.
