Clashes in Rolpa over amendment bill

DANG, Dec 16:Tensions ran high in Rolpa on Thursday after police opened tear gas to disperse groups opposing and  supporting constitution amendment bill in Libang, district headquarters of Rolpa. 

Clashes erupted between Magars opposing the bill and pro-constitution bill supporters. Miffed by the constitution amendment bill, locals have enforced banda in Rolpa and Pyuthan districts but the supporters of the constitution amendment bill defied the banda inviting clashes in the district. 
Police said no major violence was reported. 

Nepali Congress district president Amar Singh Pun, UML chairman Hari Prasad Pun and Rastriya Janamorcha chairman Megh Nath Bista have been leading anti-constitution protests in Rolpa.
