KATHMANDU, July 29: Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Kedar Nath Upadhyay on Wednesday demanded a written clarification from member Dr Leela Pathak for leaking information about alleged irregularities in vehicle purchase deal to Nagarik and Republica.

"I have been asked to furnish a written reply as to why I made public the irregularities in the vehicle purchase by NHRC as early as possible," Pathak, former general secretary of Transparency International, Nepal said. "I have been consulting my lawyers over the clarification."

Pathak has publicly alleged that there were financial irregularities while purchasing chasing vehicles worth 5.4 million rupees. However, NHRC Secretary Bishal Khanal, the main accused, has been refuting the charge.
