GORKHA, Sept 24:An elderly woman from Gorkha’s Dharche Rural Municipality-6, Yarsa, has obtained her citizenship certificate in her late seventies.
The 77-year-old Asari Ghale, who had reached the district headquarters with her grandson, was granted the citizenship certificate by the Gorkha District Administration Office on Thursday.
If she had acquired the certificate, which a Nepali citizen is eligible after attaining the age of 16, she would have received social security allowances after she crossed 70 years of age.
“I brought her here for the national identity as she was deprived of various services provided by the government,” said her grandson, Maite Ghale. It took them two days to make it to the district headquarters.
Ghale, who can only speak her native language, was elated after acquiring the certificate.
